Was 113th in The 2010 Race to Dubai heading into his final event of the season, but guaranteed his card for 2011 with a tied 16th finish at the UBS Hong Kong Open to rise to 106th. Capitalised by winning his third European Tour title in 2011, at the Austria GolfOpen, defeating Simon Wakefield in a play-off. Lit up the US Open Championship on his debut in 2006 as he challenged all the way at Winged Foot in New York before finishing joint sixth. Went into the final round tied for the lead and paired with Phil Mickelson in the final grouping but both were overhauled by Australian Geoff Ogilvy. Won his 2008 US PGA Tour card through the US PGA Tour Qualifying School, turning his 2007 campaign around after struggling all year. Returned to The European Tour in 2009. Claimed the biggest title of his career in July 2005 when he stood firm as others faltered at The K Club in Ireland to win the European Open. His brother Iain has played on the Challenge Tour.
