Enjoyed a welcome return to form in the late summer of 2015, winning the M2M Russian Open and then finishing second at the KLM Open the following week. Led by two shots going into the final round in Russia and won by one – largely thanks to a wonderful chip-in for a birdie two on the 17th – to regain his full playing rights having finished 111th in the Race to Dubai in 2014, one spot away from safety. Shared the lead on the final day in the Netherlands and looked likely to win back-to-back titles, until he missed a short par putt on the last hole which would have put him in a play-off with Thomas Pieters. Looked destined for big things when he won the European Challenge Tour Rankings in 2004, not long after he was working in a high street clothes shop, having had to take a break from golf due to glandular fever. Spent the next few seasons between the European Tour and the Challenge Tour, however, with an agonising near-miss in 2007, when he was one place and just €77 shy of retaining his playing privileges. Finally made his long-awaited breakthrough at the 2011 Madrid Masters, where despite a double bogey finish he won by one stroke from Lorenzo Gagli.
