The son of a fighter pilot in the US Air Force, he dreamed of becoming a pilot himself before being bitten by the golf bug. Has been something of a golfing nomad in recent years, plying his trade on the US Web.com Tour, then the Asian Tour before coming through the European Tour Qualifying School in 2010. Failed to keep his card in 2011, but was again successful at the Qualifying School Final Stage in 2014, one of a record four Americans to come through the six-round event that year. Made it a hat-trick of successful Q-School visits in 2015 by taking the 18th card. Won twice in his eight seasons on the Asian Tour, at the 2004 Macau Open – a tournament which featured three-time Major winner Padraig Harrington of Ireland – and at the 2007 Motorola International Bintan in Indonesia. Attended Iowa State University in his native America, where he regularly competed against 2007 US Masters champion Zach Johnson. Is a big fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team and the Iowa State Cyclones American football team.
