Born in Mérida, Spain, but raised in Cáceres, where he discovered an interest for golf aged eight. Awarded a national scholarship at the High Performance Centre in Barcelona, and represented the Spanish national team many times during his amateur career. Turned professional in 2004, but initially struggled to make an impact. The turning point came in 2005, after meeting his mentor Ángel Sanz. The following year, he earned his card for the 2007 Spanish Professional Golf Tour, finishing in seventh place on the Order of Merit. Last year, he secured his first professional victory at the Spanish PGA Championship in the Canary Islands, finished a creditable third at the European PGA Masters in Venice, and earned his the Challenge Tour Card through the European Tour Qualifying School – Final Stage.
