Captured his maiden Challenge Tour title at the 2011 Abierto Internacional Copa Antioquia in Colombia, where he closed with four birdies in regulation play before capping a five-star display with yet another gain on the first hole of the play-off to edge out runner-up Charles-Edouard Russo. His previous form on the Tour de las Americas (TLA) had been steady, rather than spectacular, with a tie for third place at the 2009 Abierto de Chile his best performance. But he proved he was the man for the big occasion by collecting the €26,274 winner’s cheque on only his tenth appearance on the Challenge Tour. Will now play a full season on the Challenge Tour in a bid to follow in the spikemarks of a host of current European Tour Members who have made the journey from TLA champions to Challenge Tour graduates.
