Johan Ryström shot a final round of 72 to secure a one shot victory in the NCC Open at Söderåsens Golf Club in Sweden.
Ryström led by four shots going into the final round but was almost caught by Fredrik Larsson, who closed with a three-under-par 68. Larsson opened with a 65 to head the field but a second round of 75 proved costly, paving the way for Ryström who followed his opening round of 66 with two 69’s to put daylight between himself and the chasing pack.
Ryström finished on 276, eight under par, one ahead of Larsson, with Charles Challen and Mikael Lundberg a further two shots behind.
“I thought I was safe with a four shot lead,” said Ryström. “My goal was to do a one-under-par round of 70 to make it difficult for the others to reach me. I was lucky that my 72 made it.”
It was the second Challenge Tour victory for the Frösåker player following his win in the Lansförsäkringar Open in 1991.
