Per G. Nyman won the NCC Open at Soderasens Golf Club after a three-way play-off ended at the second extra hole. After Thomas Nörret had departed making bogey at the first hole of the play-off, Nyman secured the title with a bogey against Klas Eriksson’s double bogey.
Nörret the Dane and the two Swedes were tied for the lead at three under par at the conclusion of 72 holes before the drama unfolded in extra time. Nyman, who shared the overnight lead with Mikael Lundberg, shot a one under par 70, picking up three birdies but also dropping two shots.
He was caught by Nörret, who shot a three under 68 after an eagle and three birdies and Eriksson, winner of the Qualifying School in 1993, whose 69 was made up of five birdie, a bogey and a double bogey.
With the three players tied on three under it was all down to a play-off and when both Nörret and Eriksson faltered the way was clear for Nyman to take the 10,324 euro first prize. His victory in the first event he has played on the Challenge Tour this year, moves him up to 14th in the Rankings, two above Eriksson.
