Dimitri Bieri maintained his lead in the Neuchâtel Open Trophy in Switzerland with a second round 69.

The 26-year-old Swiss from Cressier is on nine-under-par 133, a shot clear of Germany's Erol Simsek (68) and two in front of England's Gary Marks (69).

Bieri, who shot a course record 64 in Friday's opening round, last won on the Challenge Tour when he lifted the Netcom Norwegian Open in Oslo. But having led from the start, he is in the best possible position to add a 1999 title to his portfolio.

But he can expect a battle in tomorrow's final round especially as just five shots cover the leading 13 players.
The 36-hole cut came at one-over-par 143 and 53 players survived to compete on Sunday.
