Spain’s Carl Suneson moved to the top of the Challenge Tour Rankings after a final round of 65 gave him a six-shot victory in the Rolex Trophy at Golf Club de Geneve, Switzerland.
Suneson moved ahead of Argentina’s Gustavo Rojas after his winning cheque 9,451 euro (£6,731) took his season’s earnings to 35,288 euro. It was his second victory of the season following his win nin the Communidad Valenciana Challenge de Espana and further strengthened his chances of re-gaining his European Tour card for next season.
Suneson started the final round a shot clear of Sweden’s Adam Mednick and American Brian Nelson but his seven under 65 for a 20-under-par 268 proved too good for the chasing pack. Mednick finished with a round of 70 to claim second spot while Nelson and New Zealand’s Stephen Scahill tied for third.
