Scotland’s Greig Hutcheon won the Formby Hall Challenge with a birdie on the second extra hole of a sudden-death play-off to deny fellow Scot Alistair Forsyth.

The pair returned to Formby Hall on Tuesday to resume the play-off that had been suspended on September 3 due to failing light. Although at the time the two players agreed to share the title and first prize, but under European Challenge Tour regulations, a result was required with just the one winner for category and ranking purposes.

Victory lifts Hutcheon to 14th in the Challenge Tour Rankings where the top 15 qualify for Membership of the European Tour next season.
