Sweden’s Kalle Brink won the Ohrlings Swedish Match Play by holing a 20 foot birdie putt on the 19th hole of a tense final against Henrik Stenson at Kristianstad GC.
Brink, a graduate from last year’s European Tour Qualifying School is back playing the Challenge Tour in a bid to improve his ranking. He overcame England’s Andrew Butterfield 2 and 1 in the semi-final to reach the showdown with Barseback’s Stenson after the Swede defeated Finland’s Mikael Piltz in the other semi-final by a winning margin of 3 and 1.
The final went right down to the wire and with the two Swede’s still all square after 18 holes, the contest moved into sudden death. Stenson found the bunker with his second shot, playing it out to about 15 feet but Brink made no mistake by holing his birdie putt for the title.
