The race for a place among the top 15 in the Challenge Tour Rankings to earn a place among the golfing elite on the main Tour is nearing its end with just two events after this week remaining. This week is another double header on the European Challenge Tour, starting with the San Paolo Vita Open at Margara GC, Italy, on Wednesday.
The tournament is one of the oldest on the Challenge Tour having been on the schedule since the Tour started in 1989. The par-72 course, midway between Milan and Turin, should once again witness another close tussle.
Sweden’s Eric Carlberg currently occupies 16th place and will be looking for a good week to move into the top 15. Similarly New Zealand’s Elliott Boult, in 22nd place, Frenchman Marc Pendaries in 23rd and Sweden’s Adam Mednick in 21st are all fighting to get into the top 15. England’s Iain Pyman, winner of the BMW Russian Open in August and fourth in the rankings, Argentina’s Gustavo Rojas, another of the season’s champions, and England’s Phillip Golding in 14th place will all be hoping to consolidate their positions in the top 15 as the seasons draws to a close.
