Alberto Binaghi kept his nerve and his lead to win the San Paolo Vita Open in front his home fans at Margara in Italy.
The 34-year-old Italian carded a closing 69 for a 10-under-par tally of 278 to win by a shot from Mattias Eliasson of Sweden, who went round in 68, and Italian teenage amateur, Roberto Paolillo, who returned 69.
Joint fourth on 280 were Niki Zitny from Austria, who returned 67, and New Zealander, Elliot Boult, who shot 66.
But the best return of the day came from Germany's Erol Simsek with 65, which hoisted him into sixth place on 281.
At the start of play, Binaghi led by one from Paolillo, another Italian, Mario Tadini, and Ireland's Gary Murphy.
But while Paolillo, a member of Italy's triumphant European Championship squad in July, kept pace with Binaghi, both Tadini and Murphy fell back with 74s to finish joint 10th with Frenchman Marc Pendaries on 284.
