Four players from three different countries share the lead after the first round of the San Paolo Vita Open in Italy.
Sweden's Peter Malmgren, Elliot Boult from New Zealand, and Finns Mikael Piltz and Pauli Hughes, carded four-under-par 68 on a day of perfect conditions.
But the hard, fast greens proved tricky for the majority of the 144-strong field and only 25 players bettered the par of 72.
The leading quartet are a shot clear of another Finn, Mikko Rantanen, Eric Giraud of France and Italy's Alberto Binaghi with six more players, including three more Italians, on 70.
Peter Lawrie, who is a regular on the Asian Tour, also shot 70, while fellow Irishman Gary Murphy is among a large group on 71 as is Gustavo Rojas of Argentina, currently seventh on the Challenge Tour rankings.
