The second of the week’s Challenge Tour events, the Philips Challenge Xacobeo 99 is a new tournament on the schedule and will take place at Golf Club de La Coruña in Spain.
Among the players in action in Spain are Scotland’s Greig Hutcheon, winner of the Formby Hall Challenge, and Denmark’s Knud Storegaard, 17th and 18th respectively on the European Challenge Tour Rankings.
Welshman Bradley Dredge, winner of the Is Molas Challenge and sixth in the Rankings, is one of the season’s champions in the field looking to secure his place on the main Tour for the year 2000.
As well as the race to get into the top 15, players are also competing for a place in the First Cuba European Challenge Tour Grand Final at the end of the month. The top 45 in the Rankings after the Challenge de France Bayer will travel to Cuba in the final event of the season.
