The Nordic domination of the NCC Open continued at Soderasen with Swedes, Johan Moller and Joachim Backstrom leading the way with Henrik Bjornstad from Norway. Moller and Backstrom carded 67 while Bjornstad returned 68, all three sharing top spot on five-under-par 137.
They are two strokes clear of three more Swedes, Martin Erlandsson (68), Kalle Brink (69) and Bjorn Pettersson (69), and Ireland’s David Higgins (70).
But it was another Swede, Fredrik Widmark, who stole the show on the second day, carding a 64, which hauled him up the leaderboard after an opening 77. Widmark had an eagle and six birdies in his seven under par return, the eagle coming at the eighth where he took a seven in round one.
The halfway cut came at one-over-par 145 with 57 players making the cut including one amateur. On the right side for the first time this year is Scotland’s Gordon Sherry despite a 73 which leaves him on 142.
