Gustavo Rojas from Argentina carded a six under par 66 to lead after the first round of the Rolex Pro-Am Trophy in Geneva, Switzerland.

The 34 year old from Buenos Aires was a symmetrical masterpiece as he covered both nines in 33 strokes and had three birdies in each.

He is a shot ahead of three players England’s Benn Barham, Nicolas Colsaerts from Belgium and another Englishman, Simon Wakefield.

Five players, Frenchman Ilya Goroneskoul and the English quartet of Simon Hurd, Ben Mason, Mark Sanders and Andrew Sherborne, went round in 68 to lie joint fifth.

With ranking leader Lee James having withdrawn from the tournament a few days ago with a back injury, there is opportunity for his pursuers to close the gap on the runaway leader.

Second placed Jean-Francois Lucquin from France is among the group on 70.

On a day of perfect conditions in Switzerland, 22 of the 36-strong limited field bettered par.
