Six of this season's champions on the European Challenge Tour will reconvene in Spain this week in search of another title in the fifth edition of the Izki Challenge de España at Izki Golf, Urturi, Vitoria.

Johan Edfors of Sweden, Sebastian Fernandez of Argentina, James Hepworth of England, Scotland's Greig Hutcheon, England’s Martin LeMesurier and Fernandez's fellow countryman, Daniel Vancik are all currently in the Top Ten on the Challenge Tour Rankings and a second victory of the fledgling season would greatly assist the winner's prospects of gaining one of the 15 cards which provide access to The European Tour.

Last year, Sweden's Fredrik Widmark made his breakthrough by winning the Izki Challenge de España and three top ten finishes last in the season ensured that he graduated to The European Tour in 14th position.

Widmark led at halfway on 137, nine under par, before a third round 73 dropped him out of the leading places. However, he recovered superbly with the lowest round of the week, a seven under par 66, to finish one shot ahead of Raimo Sjöberg.

Ivo Giner, the highest placed Spanish player on the 2002 Challenge Tour Rankings, will carry considerable local support along with other current European Tour Members Jesus Maria Arruti and Alvaro Salto, and former European Tour Member José Manuel Carriles.
