Kaymer's Dream Season Continues With Open des Volcans Triumph
Germany’s Martin Kaymer claimed his second title in only four events when he won the Open des Volcans – Challenge de France by an impressive six strokes from Frenchman Michael Lorenzo-Vera. Flying Frenchman Eyraud Left in Dark at Golf des Volcans
France’s Raphaël Eyraud had more reason than most for feeling frustrated when darkness called a halt to the third round of the weather-affected Open des Volcans – Challenge de France, the fifth last event on the 2006 Challenge Tour Schedule. The 30 year old, who is still seeking his maiden victory at this level, was the standout performer of the afternoon and had reached six under par for 16 holes when the players were called off the course.
Low-scoring Expert Kaymer Storms Clear in France
Martin Kaymer, who hit the headlines earlier in the season when he carded a 59 during a tournament on the EPD Tour in his native Germany, produced another burst of low scoring to storm into the lead at the Open des Volcans on the European Challenge Tour. The 21 year old moved six strokes clear of the field with a second round of seven under par 64, although due to heavy storms half the field will not start their second rounds until Saturday morning.
