Over the past month, four lucky readers of the Manchester Evening News each won a weekly prize draw, courtesy of Oceânico Developments, to tee up alongside the European Challenge Tour professionals today in the pre-tournament Pro-Am of the Oceânico Developments Pro-Am Challenge.
It was Warren Hope and his team ‘Folly 45ers’ who emerged as the leading team from the four to claim a trip to Portugal in the Autumn to compete in the John Aldridge Classic as well as an amateur place in the weekend Pro-Am at the tournament playing alongside a Challenge tour professional.
Warren, who plays off a 20 handicap, was humble in victory,.
He said: "To be honest, I was very apprehensive about this morning as I haven’t played alongside a professional before. I had no need to worry however, as he (Tim Milford) was great; he helped with the yardages as well as with the putting and was very friendly. I’m delighted to win this prize and would like to thank title sponsors Oceânico Developments as well as the Manchester Evening News; I’m just sorry I can’t play at the weekend!”
With weekend commitments as manager of a rugby team, Warren has kindly donated his weekend slot to his playing partner, Andrew Waring, who has a handicap of seven.
