The 2008 Challenge Tour Members looking for the perfect start to the new season at the Abierto del Litoral Personal will face the rather daunting task of overcoming US Open Champion Angel Cabrera in his home country.

And, as if the presence of Cabrera is not enough, the two Romeros – Andres and Eduardo – will also be lining up at the Rosario Golf Club to set the Challenge Tour players a huge test in this the first event on the 2008 season and the tour’s  20th anniversary season.

The presence of three of Argentina’s most famous golfing sons is a huge boost for the Abierto del Litoral Personal and is sure to attract massive interest in the tournament in Argentina, a country that has enjoyed a wonderful year on the world’s fairways.

From Cabrera’s quite stunning victory in capturing the US Open title at Oakmont Country Club to Andres Romero’s thrilling win at the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe just seven days after almost winning The Open Championship at Carnoustie, it has been an unforgettable golfing year for Argentina.

Ariel Canete and Daniel Vancsik also played their own significant roles in Argentina’s golfing success over the last 12 months with their respective European Tour wins at the Joburg Open and the Madeira Islands Open BPI, while Julio Zapata graduated the 2007 Challenge Tour in 14th place on the final Rankings.

It all adds up to an enormous test of character and ability for the Europeans in the field at the Abierto del Litoral Personal, the kind of test they will have to pass if they want to succeed on The European Tour.
