You don’t become known as one of the founding fathers of Kazakhstan golf without being ambitious and Konstantin Lifanov is certainly that, aiming to have several Kazakh golfers competing on the world stage in the next decade, have an Olympic golf team by 2020 and host a European Tour event.

Great Scott seals dramatic Kazakhstan triumph
Scott Henry claimed the biggest win of his career as the Scot beat Austrian HP Bacher on the second play-off hole in a thrilling finale at the Kazakhstan Open, having sunk an incredible 25 foot birdie putt at the 18th to force the extra holes.

It is a country that many of the players admit that they knew little about prior to the Kazakhstan Open, but Kazakhstan is fast growing a fan club amongst the European Challenge Tour stars present as it continues to welcome, befriend and enchant its visitors this week.

Volunteers raising the bar in Kazakhstan
There are 100 dedicated volunteers at the Kazakhstan Open, many of whom have taken up golf and studied the rules of the game thanks to their experiences at the tournament in previous years. This is an event which raises the bar in the art of spreading the game to new territories.
