Adri Arnaus with his puppy Khaimah (European Tour)

Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final champion Adri Arnaus won much more than a trophy and a pay cheque at the season-ending event, with the outstanding performance also landing him a new dog.

At the beginning of the year, the 24 year old made a deal with his father Quim, agreeing if he won an event in his first Challenge Tour season the family would get a puppy as a reward.

During a sensational rookie campaign Arnaus repeatedly came close to achieving that goal, and after narrowly missing out on victory several times, he travelled to Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates for the final event of the season still winless.

The Spaniard saved his best for last though, and after rounds of 66-69-67-69 he secured a memorable wire-to-wire win, sealed his European Tour card and, importantly, came good on his father’s wager.

A month on from that triumph, Arnaus recently returned to his home in Barcelona following his first two Race to Dubai events. Eagerly awaiting his arrival was a 12 week old female Golden Labrador Retriever puppy.

With his trip to Ras Al Khaimah ultimately providing him the friend he had longed for, Arnaus decided to name his new canine companion ‘Khaimah’, in honour of his life-changing win in the emirate.

“It has been one of the best parts of winning the Grand Final at Ras Al Khaimah,” said Arnaus.

“While I was away the following week in Hong Kong my dad went to find a dog that I would like, he took a couple videos of ‘Khaimah’ and when I saw them I thought she was going to be such a cool dog.

“The moment I saw ‘Khaimah’ I realised she was even cuter than the videos, she was so playful and made me feel really happy.

“Obviously I was thrilled to be able to get that win but knowing how much I love dogs this was an amazing side bet to win!”
