The innovative Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 will make its third appearance on the European Challenge Tour International Schedule.
The Andalusian event, which made its debut at La Cala Resort in 2017, is the only tournament to feature stroke play and match play on Europe’s top developmental tour. The field will contest 36 holes of stroke play before a cut is made where the top 64 players progress to the innovative knockout match play format.
Players will go head-to-head over nine holes in the weekend’s match play action, competing for the €200,000 prize fund, as Valle Romano Golf plays host for a second successive season from June 20-23.
Aaron Rai beat Gavin Moynihan in the inaugural Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 final in 2017 en route to graduating to the European Tour and Liam Johnston followed suit 12 months later, beating fellow Scot Grant Forrest in the final before gaining his European Tour playing rights at the end of the season.
