TaylorMade Introduces TP xFT Wedge (Exchangeable Face Technology) TaylorMade Golf has introduced the TP wedge with xFT (Exchangeable Face Technology), which allows players to easily remove a worn clubface and replace it with a new one to maintain peak performance in terms of spin and control. "Though the face of a typical iron is sturdy, it isn't impervious to wear," said Bret Wahl, senior director of iron, wedge and putter development. "A wedge's face wears from contact with the ball and from the dirt and sand that's often sandwiched between the ball and the face at impact. Every time you explode from sand with your wedge it's like rubbing a piece of sand paper on your clubface. Over time the face wears down and the edge-radius of the grooves becomes dull. In addition to the normal wear and tear a face suffers from normal play, it can be nicked and damaged in a variety of other ways such as when clubheads bang together when you put your bag down or when you walk or drive your cart..." |

Michael Jonzon's Improbable Victory at Castello Masters Facing the most daunting of ultimatums — finish in the top two or fail to secure your European Tour card for 2010 — TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff Professional Michael Jonzon came alive at the Castello Masters, determined to make his playing status for next year a certainty by Sunday evening. Ranked 482nd in the world and winless for 12 years running, Jonzon raced to an opening-round 64 and fought off a late charge from the field, needing a birdie on the final hole to close with 67 and edge his way to an improbable one-shot victory. Desperate to avoid his ninth trip to qualifying school in 16 years on Tour, the 37-year-old Swede took home the hard-earned championship prize of €333,330 after an emotional and exciting final round at Club de Campo del Mediterraneo. Among those chasing Jonzon were fellow TaylorMade staffers Martin Kaymer, who finished in 2nd place in his first start since returing from injury. |

TaylorMade Golf Introduces R9 Ti Fairway Woods TaylorMade Golf has introduced the R9 Ti fairway woods with TaylorMade's innovative new Flight Control Technology (FCT) that allows the player to adjust the head characteristics – face angle, loft and lie. FCT in the R9 Ti fairway woods promotes a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 35 yards, helping players to dial in straighter, longer shots. An added advantage of FCT is that it allows players to dial in the look they prefer at address, with the face angle either square, slightly closed or slightly open. Now TaylorMade offers two R9 fairway woods: the original R9 with FCT and steel head construction; and the new R9 Ti with FCT and titanium head construction. Compared to the R9, the R9 Ti head is larger (190 cc R9 Ti 3-wood vs. 165 cc R9 3-wood) and the centre of gravity is lower and deeper. |

TaylorMade Introduces R9 TP Irons TaylorMade Golf has introduced the R9™ TP, a classically shaped iron that nevertheless incorporates a variety of performance-enhancing technologies. As part of TaylorMade's revered Tour Preferred® product line, R9 TP irons are engineered to, above all, deliver an exceptional degree of distance control and consistency, which is critical to any player who competes at a high level or wants to. The R9 TP iron's classic shape and size are characterised by a compact head featuring a semi-straight leading edge, semi-square toe, thin topline and thin, cambered, beveled, multi-functional sole. The particular way the hosel blends with the leading edge and the face comes from Nick Faldo's advisement, who believes it's absolutely essential that this connection point be skillfully rendered so as to be pleasing to the player's eye. Adding to the R9 TP's beautiful shape is an attractive mirror nickel-chrome plating topped by a pearl finish. |

TaylorMade Introduces R9 Irons TaylorMade has introduced the R9™ iron, designed to deliver modern performance and tremendous distance in a more classic package. "Whereas our Burner irons deliver extraordinary distance in a modern design, the R9 irons are aimed at the technician, and so are rendered in a player's shape with a clean and conventional look," said Harry Arnett, TaylorMade's senior category director of metalwoods, irons and balls. "However, a ridiculous degree of performance-enhancing technology is packaged within each oversized clubhead. The result is an iron that's phenomenally easy to play despite its classic appearance, and extremely controllable and accurate as well." Like the Burner irons, the new R9 long-irons and middle-irons were designed separately from the short-irons to optimise performance in each club. The result is that the 3-iron through 6-iron are extremely long and easy to hit. |

TaylorMade Introduces Penta TP TaylorMade Golf has introduced Penta TP, a new tour ball designed to deliver a superior balance of performance in five key shot categories. "We spend a lot of time with tour pros asking questions," said Dean Snell, head of TaylorMade golf ball R&D. "Most think the ball they play is lacking somewhere. Some say their ball performs great in the short game but costs them distance, while other players said the opposite about their ball. Some feel their ball performs great off the middle and short irons but isn't long enough off the tee and doesn't spin enough on short wedge shots. "The takeaway was simple: If we could create a ball that performed well in all areas we would have a revolutionary product. That's what inspired us to create our newest ball, Penta TP, which is every bit the breakthrough we hoped it would be." |

TaylorMade Golf Introduces R9 460 Driver In February, TaylorMade Golf introduced the R9™ driver, which was the No. 1 driver model in it's first event on both the European Tour and PGA Tour*. Now, TaylorMade is introducing the R9 460 driver, which combines TaylorMade's renowned Flight Control Technology (FCT) with the forgiveness and power of a 460cc titanium clubhead and the speed-promoting properties of a longer length and extremely lightweight graphite shaft. FCT gives the golfer the power to easily change the club's face angle, loft and lie angle simply by loosening a bolt in the sole, rotating the shaft into the designated position, then tightening the bolt. FCT makes it so easy to adjust the angle of the clubface into a position that suits your eye and your swing, helping you hit the ball straighter and longer. It also promotes a side-to-side change in trajectory of up to 40 yards, helping golfers to promote a draw or fade, or diminish a hook or slice. |

TaylorMade Introduces R9 and R9 TP Drivers TaylorMade-adidas Golf pioneered adjustability in modern golf clubs with the r7® quad, which launched in 2004. It incorporated TaylorMade's revolutionary Movable Weight Technology™ (MWT®), which gave golfers the power to change the clubhead's centre of gravity (CG) to promote different types of ball flight. The r7 quad driver spawned a long list of TaylorMade clubs with MWT, including fairway woods, Rescue® clubs, putters, and of course, more drivers. Each subsequent r7 driver introduced offered a significant boost in performance over the last, including the recently launched r7 Limited, which promotes 35 yards of side-to-side change in trajectory. |

TaylorMade Introduces Rescue 2009 and Rescue 2009 TP Hybrids Six years ago TaylorMade created a new category of golf club by introducing the Rescue® Mid, an incredibly easy-to-hit club designed to take the place of long-irons. Whereas the typical long-iron is hard to hit, it was easy to launch the Rescue Mid high and straight, thanks to its low and deep CG and high MOI. Yet not only did casual players take to the Rescue Mid in droves, so did accomplished players, including Tour pros, although they used it as a replacement for anything from the 1-, 2- and 3-iron to the 4-wood, 5-wood, 7-wood and even 11-wood. With its compact head, the Rescue Mid truly was a hybrid – a cross between an iron and a fairway wood. It was easy to hit straight, easy to hit out of the rough, and even great to chip with from certain greenside lies. |

TaylorMade Introduces New Burner 09 Iron TaylorMade-adidas Golf has taken the wraps off a new iron destined to shake up the golf world. It's called Burner® 09, and it's the most dynamic looking, best performing iron ever to bear the name TaylorMade "During the past few years we've cultivated a trend of convincing golfers of all types that we're more than a metalwood company," said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade's executive vice president of innovation. "The new Burner 09 iron will continue that trend. However it's not just going to change minds, it's also going to blow them away. The performance is that remarkable." Every club – long-irons, middle-irons and short-irons – earned high marks for distance, accuracy and forgiveness during TaylorMade testing. Likewise its revolutionary design, featuring a futuristic blend of curves, angles and lines, is completed with a dark, almost sinister finish.br> |

TaylorMade Introduces Rossa TP by Kia Ma Putters TaylorMade Golf has introduced five new premium putters created by, and named for, a true master of the art of putter-making, Kia Ma. His name, scarcely known to the average golfer, is revered among tour pros. A native of Vietnam, Ma endured a 17-month immigration to the United States in 1980 and found a home in the golf industry soon after, assembling clubs for a small southern California equipment manufacturer called Shamrock Golf. In 1987 he joined Ray Cook Golf and took up putter design, and built his own workbenches and bargained for the tools he needed to further his craft. His talent for applying the exact degree of heat needed to bend a shaft to the precise amount of curve or angle became legendary. He started his own company, K & M Golf, which quietly serviced some of the most powerful brands in the game. Six years ago he joined TaylorMade, and since then has been instrumental in elevating the company's stature in the world of putters. |

TaylorMade Golf Introduces Rossa Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider TaylorMade® Golf has introduced the Rossa® Itsy Bitsy Monza® Spider, a midsize mallet putter designed to perform much like the Monza Spider, an oversize mallet putter launched early this year that immediately captured the attention of PGA Tour professionals and amateur golfers alike. As its name suggests, the Itsy Bitsy Monza Spider is smaller than the original Monza Spider. It was created at the request of tour pros who wanted a midsize Monza Spider that, like the original, is extremely forgiving, easy to aim and delivers excellent roll. However, the Itsy Bitsy is for a different type of player than the Monza Spider.* Earlier this month TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Peter Hanson putted his way to victory at the SAS Masters using the new Rossa® Itsy Bitsy Monza® Spider, Hanson ranked sixth in putts per green-in-regulation (GIR) and eighth in putts per round. |

TaylorMade Introduces New Burner Driver TaylorMade Golf has introduced its next generation of Burner® drivers, the Burner and Burner TP, both developed for players who love to swing big and hit the ball long. The Burner bloodline runs deep at TaylorMade. The Burner Plus driver followed in 1986, then came the Burner Bubble in 1995. In 2007 TaylorMade introduced a new Burner driver and earlier this year launched the Tour Burner, which Sergio Garcia used to win this year's Players Championship and was the most-played driver model at the Open Championship this year. * The 2007 Burner driver introduced golfers to an amazing development called SuperFast technology, allowing golfers to swing the club faster. |

TaylorMade Introduces Tour Preferred Irons TaylorMade® Golf has introduced a new high-performance iron called Tour Preferred®, engineered to blend modern technology with classic design. "The first thing you notice about the Tour Preferred iron when you position it behind the ball is the classically designed thin topline, and that it's shorter from heel to toe than the average iron you see today," said Brian Bazzel, TaylorMade manager of iron creation. "What you don't see at address are the sole design and features in the cavity that help drive the performance of this club." The tour-configured sole was shaped with the help of in-depth feedback from TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals, and features a softened leading and trailing edge that work together to minimise resistance and discourage digging. |

The large Burner Plus clubhead features a thin, fast and expansive clubface, significant perimetre weighting and an extremely low and deep-back CG that makes it easy to launch the ball high and long. Inverted Cone technology, visible on the back of the clubface, promotes faster ball speed and more distance on off-centre hits. SuperFast technology (extremely light and slightly longer shaft, light grip) promotes faster swing speed for more distance. Burner Plus irons look strong and easy to launch at address, with the large clubface and thick topline creating "can't miss" confidence. |

TaylorMade Introduces the Z TP Wedge TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company has introduced the Z TP wedge featuring the company's new Z groove that promotes increased spin to help stop the ball more quickly. The Z groove is so-named because TaylorMade's R&D team uses the letters of the alphabet to name the grooves it develops. TP stands for Tour Preferred®, and references to those TaylorMade clubs that have been designed with the express input and feedback of tour professionals. The Z groove features 10% more volume than TaylorMade's Y grooves, also known as Y-cutter grooves. The Z groove's larger volume equals added room to channel groove-clogging, spin-killing obstacles such as grass, debris and moisture. Z grooves also incorporate strong, sharp edges designed to deliver added traction on the ball's cover to promote more shot-stopping bite. |
