At the BMW PGA Championship 2009, Englishman Paul Casey won an enthralling battle with compatriot Ross Fisher to claim the trophy, getting up and down from a bunker at the last to seal a memorable win. Immediately after the tournament finished, work began on the ambitious remodelling of the course’s greens.

All 18 have been  replaced with colonial bent grass to USGA specifications, and on the 18th hole a new water hazard will run parallel to the right-hand edge of the fairway from 90 yards out, then across the front portion and down the left side of the green. The green itself has been moved to the right and reshaped to provide a potentially treacherous closing hole, adding to the excitement of the spectators and the nerves of the players.
