His grandfather, Alfredo Schuler, built a number of golf courses in Chile after emigrating from Germany and it was he who encouraged the young Felipe to take up the game at the age of nine. Golf has been his life ever since and all his family still live on a golf course. Has won more than 30 events in Chile but was forced to change his swing in 2004 when he broke a bone in his back, which took five months to heal.
