Joined the golfing elite as a Major Champion in 2005 when he won the US Open Championship after holding off the challenge of World Number One Tiger Woods at Pinehurst No.2. Was the first New Zealander to win a Major since Bob Charles in 1963, prompting wonderful celebrations in his homeland.
