Markus Brier ensured that Austrian golf celebrated its greatest ever day at the BA-CA Golf Open presented by Telekom Austria as he became the first Austrian winner on The European Tour. Brier completed a dream week at his home golf course, the magnificent Fontana Golf Club.

Markus Brier’s dream continues. The Austrian Number One is living out a fantasy week at the BA-CA Golf Open presented by Telekom Austria his home course, Fontana Golf Club on the outskirts of Vienna, and he continued the fantasy by carding a third round of six under par 66 to take a one shot lead over the only man who looks capable of spoiling the party – England’s Simon Dyson.

The BA-CA Golf Open, presented by Telekom Austria – Austria’s National Open Championship – made a perfect return to The European Tour International Schedule as Austria’s Number One player, Markus Brier, seized the day at the stunning Fontana Golf Club with an opening score of six under par 65, including a hole in one, to move into a one stroke lead.

The BA-CA Golf Open presented by Telekom Austria will boast an increased prize fund of €1,300,000 thanks to an outstanding response from sponsors and partners to the first European Tour event to be held in Austria for a decade, where Denmark’s Thomas Björn and European Tour Order of Merit holder Colin Montgomerie of Scotland will headline a world class field.
