FootJoy, the #1 Shoe & Glove in Golf, claimed yet another victory on Tour, as brand ambassador Rory McIlroy clinched his third PGA Tour win in four starts, boosting his career tour win count to six. The World #1 came from behind to claim victory, shooting a 5-under par 67 in Sunday’s final round at the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana. Rory retains the top spot in the FedEx Cup rankings and remains at the summit of World golf, with 8 FootJoy ambassadors making up the top 10 in the world.

The young Irishman trusted the superior comfort, performance and athletic styling of FJ Sport golf shoes and the superior grip and feel of the FJ Pure Touch glove. The World #1 played some majestic golf to win by one from fellow FJ brand ambassador, Lee Westwood who trusted the athletic performance of the FJ Sport and unrivalled grip and feel of the FJ SciFlex. The 2012 FedEx Cup leader made back-to-back birdies around the turn to emerge from a four-way tie, and he overcame one last challenge from Westwood with clutch pars. The win also puts the double major winner in the lead for the Vardon Trophy and Byron Nelson Award with a 68.836 stroke average.

McIlroy’s success this weekend extends his lead at the top of the FedExCup standings, leaving some of the world’s best players in his wake as he stamps his foot down with just one playoff tournament remaining. The 23-year old has 7,299 points and a 3,232 point lead approaching the Tour Championship finale. The win also sets him up with a strong chance of matching fellow FJ loyalist Luke Donald’s achievement of winning both the European Tour’s Race to Dubai and the PGA Tour’s FedExCup in the same calendar year.

“Rory is playing some exceptional golf at the moment and he fully deserves to be World # 1 and setting the standard,” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager – FootJoy. “It was also very pleasing to see us dominating the shoe counts on the European Tour this week at the KLM Open, with 60% of the field trusting FootJoy shoes”.

McIlroy’s back to back win continues a successful year for FootJoy, after the market-leader triumphed in each of golf’s four Major Championships. At The Masters, FJ brand ambassador Bubba Watson trusted the FJ ICON en-route to capturing the coveted Green Jacket. At The US Open, fellow FJ brand ambassador Webb Simpson surged through the field to claim his maiden major championship, whilst a dramatic finish at The Open Championship made it three wins in a row for the top-of-the-range, FJ ICON.

Whether it is the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON, the Xtreme Platform Stability of the all-new XPS-1, the reliability and consistent performance of DryJoys Tour or the sports performance of the FJ Sport, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
