Adam Scott - FootJoy Ambassador ()
Adam Scott - FootJoy Ambassador ()
FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, claimed back-to-back Masters titles on Sunday evening as brand ambassador, Adam Scott overcame fellow FJ loyalist, Angel Cabrera to capture an emotional maiden Major Championship and become the first Australian to don the famed Green Jacket. The back-nine at Augusta is synonymous with some of the most iconic moments in golf and the 77th edition was no exception as Scott and Cabrera produced some truly scintillating golf over the closing holes to set up a dramatic FJ dominated playoff. With the rain coming down and in near darkness, both players opted for the superior grip, feel and performance of the FJ StaSof glove to execute some amazing shots under the most intense pressure. It was Scott in his FJ Sport golf shoes that eventually prevailed at the 2nd hole of sudden-death to end years of heartache and follow in the footsteps of 2012 Masters Champion and fellow FJ ambassador, Bubba Watson.

Starting the final-round one shot behind 54-hole co-leader Cabrera, the popular Australian rebounded from an opening bogey with a birdie at the third, but after nine straight pars it appeared his challenge had fallen by the wayside as the 43-year-old Argentine, in the unrivalled comfort and style of his FJ ICON golf shoes, took the lead heading into Amen Corner. Renowned for being one of the most stylish players in golf, Scott strode the famed fairways of Augusta National in the superior sports performance of his favoured FJ Sport golf shoes and relying on the all-round excellence of the FJ StaSof glove, Scott was not about to give up and showed his class by birdieing the par 5 15th hole and then, when it really mattered, rolling in a 25ft birdie putt on the 72nd hole to set the clubhouse lead at 9 under-par. The 32 year-old could hardly believe what he saw next, as down in the middle of the fairway and needing to make a three to force a playoff, Cabrera hit a sensational approach shot into 3ft to match Scott’s birdie and take the tournament into extra holes. Both players made Par at the 1st extra hole after Cabrera chip shot narrowly slid by the hole.  With the light fading fast, both players again wowed the galleries with their shots into the 10th green, demonstrating the Mark of a Player that characterises all players who wear the FJ logo. Cabrera was up first and once again his putt narrowly slid by, leaving Scott to calmly roll in a downhill 12 footer for an emotional first Major Championship.

“The quality of golf that Adam and Angel delivered under the most intense pressure last night was nothing short of extraordinary and we could not be more delighted by the way they showcased our market-leading products on the greatest stage in golf,” commented Russell Lawes, European Marketing Manager – FootJoy. “Our congratulations go to Adam on securing a deserved   first Major Championship, but at the same time we applaud Angel for his never give up attitude that he showed over the closing   holes. To have both players, not only trusting the unrivalled comfort, fit and performance of  the FJ Sport and FJ ICON, but also relying on the outstanding grip and feel of FJ StaSof clearly demonstrates the continued trust the world’s best players have for the outstanding performance capabilities of our 2013 product line.”

On the hallowed fairways of Augusta, FJ also showcased why it is the #1 golf shoe brand on the market as a commanding 52% of the elite field put their trust in the most all-encompassing golf shoe product range in the game to today. In addition to Scott claiming the coveted Green Jacket and Cabrera’s dramatic return to form, a number of other FJ ambassadors also put in a strong showing on Sunday. Australian Marc Leishman, in his FJ ICON golf shoes showed why he is a talent for the future as he claimed 4th position in his first Masters and Lee Westwood secured another top-10 in a Major also wearing FJ ICON.
