FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, was once again at the forefront of proceedings on the PGA and European Tours this weekend as brand ambassadors, Billy Horschel and Brett Rumford captured the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and Ballantine’s Championship respectively. Horschel was in magnificent form on Sunday, shooting a final round 8 under-par round of  64 to claim his maiden PGA Tour title, whilst Rumford  produced a dramatic eagle at the first hole of a  three-man playoff to walk away with his fourth European Tour title and first since 2007.

Trusting the outstanding comfort and superior styling of his FJ ICON golf shoes and relying on the ultimate grip and comfort of the FJ StaSof glove, former United States Walker Cup star, Horschel built upon his stellar form in recent weeks in the early stages of the final round. A birdie at the 5th hole started an amazing run of six successive birdies from the 7th hole to move to the top of the leaderboard. He wasn’t to have it all his own way as XPS-1 shoe and FJ SciFlex glove enthusiast and recent winner of the Shell Huston Open, D.A. Points was also in fine form, producing four successive birdies of his own from the 10th hole to draw level with his fellow FJ loyalist. However, impressive birdies at the final two holes were to prove decisive for Horschel as he calmly claimed his fourth successive Top 10, a maiden winner’s cheque for $1,152,000 and promptly moved up to 3rd position  in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Clearly inspired by fellow Aussie and FJ loyalist, Adam Scott’s Masters victory, Rumford was in fine form all week at the Blackstone Golf Club. Having finished the third round with five successive birdies, the 35-year old  took a commanding lead into the final round and it appeared the popular Australian was going to romp to the title after opening up the final round with successive birdies at the first and second holes. Making the turn in a mere 30 strokes, Rumford then had a little wobble with a double-bogey at the 71st hole, but then demonstrated his true class by holing an 8ft par putt at the last to earn his place in a three-man playoff, including fellow FJ ambassador Peter Whiteford. It was there that Rumford showed the Mark of a Player characteristic that all players who don the famous logo aspire to. Relying on the all-round excellence of the FJ ICON golf shoe, FJ SciFlex glove and FJ Apparel, he produced a magnificent approach shot into 4ft at the first playoff hole set up the tournament clinching eagle putt. The Ballantine’s Championship marks Rumford’s fourth victory on the European Tour and the winner’s cheque for €367,500 moves him up to 18th in the season long Race to Dubai standings. In addition to Rumford’s victory and Whiteford’s performance to earn his place in extra time, Romain Wattel in FJ ICON golf shoes and Louis Oosthuizen in FJ DryJoys Tour™ further enhanced the FJ brand presence in the Top 10 in South Korea.
