FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, is celebrating yet another European Tour victory for its stable of Brand Ambassadors after Fabrizio Zanotti came out on top of an all-FJ four-man playoff at the BMW International Open.

Sporting FJ’s D.N.A.™ shoes and trusting the comfort and fit of StaSof®, the #1 cabretta leather glove in the world, the 31-year-old became the first Paraguayan to win on the European Tour, seeing off the challenge of fellow FJ players Henrik Stenson (FJ ICON™ and Pure Touch®), Rafael Cabrera-Bello (D.N.A). and Gregory Havret (DryJoys Casual) during five nail-biting extra holes.

After recording three runner-up finishes on the European Tour, Zanotti set the stage for his breakthrough success with a superb final round 65, his second in succession and the lowest of any of those to reach the playoff on 19-under-par (269).

Having surrendered his tour card last season after finishing 140th in the Race to Dubai, therefore requiring a visit to Tour School, a first title is all the sweeter for Zanotti, who credited an increased self-belief for his change in fortune.

“I was patient. I tried to play shot by shot in the playoff. I’m just very happy,” he said.

“I knew today that if I made a good run, I’d have a good chance. Today was my day. I’ve been working a lot and trying to build my confidence to get to this moment and finally I’m here.”

A winner’s cheque of  €333,330 catapults Zanotti up to 24th in the current Race to Dubai standings and sees him placed 112th in the Official World Golf Ranking, up from 305th.

A third consecutive top five for Stenson, meanwhile, strengthens the FJ alliance at the top of the ranking, where Australia’s Adam Scott (D.N.A. and StaSof) and the Swede remain No.1 and 2, respectively.

During yet another important weekend on the golfing calendar, FJ again dominated the PGA and European Tour counts, with more golfers choosing its shoes and gloves than any other brand. At the BMW International Open, more than two-thirds of the field (67%) selected FJ footwear, while 38% trusted the exceptional grip of FJ gloves.

The overwhelming popularity of the brand amongst the world’s best players was also evident Stateside at the Quicken Loans National, where 55% took to the fairways in models from FJ’s performance-driven shoe range, with 33% wearing its market-leading gloves.

“Everyone at FootJoy would like to congratulate Fabrizio on securing an all-important first victory at the BMW International Open,” said FootJoy Marketing Manager, Russell Lawes. “We are delighted that all of his hard work has paid off with a win at one of the longest-standing and most prestigious European Tour events.

“Having four FJ Brand Ambassadors making the playoff was also an incredible endorsement for FJ Shoes and Gloves, and is strong validation of the performance benefits that our technologically-advanced products offer.”

Whether it is the all-round excellence and superior comfort of FJ ICON™, the reliability and consistent performance of the DryJoys™ family, the advanced feel of D.N.A.™ or the athletic-infused performance of the FJ Sport, FootJoy remains the overwhelming favourite for golfers of all abilities around the world.
