Mizuno's highly anticipated new line of irons and wedges will be arriving in Europe early in September. Although pictures have been circulating since Charles Howell put the MP-59's straight into his bag - we're posting the first official images here on our European news section.

Video content, 3D and full specifications will be live on Sep 1.

MP-69
PURE HERITAGE

The MP-69 is a pure Mizuno muscleback. Evolved from the highly acclaimed MP-68, the With the same playing profile and offset as its predecessor, the MP-69 takes few risks with its Tour following. A slightly more pronounced toe is a feature influenced from Mizuno’s original Japanese models (last seen in the MP-32).

A new 4D muscle pad that locates weight strategically from 3 iron to PW, produces easier to hit long irons with a marginally higher trajectory. The shorter, scoring irons appear cleaner and more compact at address, with a raised centre of gravity for greater trajectory control.

With impact sound tuned through Mizuno’s Harmonic Impact Technology project and heads Grain Flow Forged at Mizuno’s exclusive Hiroshima plant, the MP-69 offers an unmatched level of feedback.

A sole design evolved over time from Mizuno’s favourite custom tour grinds, features an additional bevel to the trailing edge to allow a cleaner exit from the turf.

The MP-69 is available in any custom combination from 3-PW, with MP Fli-Hi (2,3,4) available as long iron replacements.

“The MP-69 is aimed squarely at the Tour Player and high level amateur – with a really clean look throughout the set. Mizuno has an incredible history in blades with the TN87, MP-14, MP-29, TP-9, TP-19’s and MP-33’s and the MP-69 sits comfortably in that elevated company. We did everything possible to keep the MP-69’s clean to the eye – nothing protruding or distracting above the ball”

- David Llewellyn, Mizuno R&D

MP-59
FORGED TI MUSCLE

Mizuno’s Forged Ti Muscle maintains thickness behind impact, for blade like workability – combined with forgiveness normally found in a cavity design.

The thickness is provided by a lightweight Titanium insert, which is forged directly inside the clubhead for a one piece feel.

With weight saved from the middle portion of the clubhead, the MP-59 takes the characteristics of a full cavity design, with stability from off centre strikes. The thicker material behind impact ensures that centre strikes are rewarded with a solid impact. The MP-59’s centre of gravity also remains close to the clubface – allowing ball strikers to produce controlled draws and fades.

The MP-59 takes the multi material concept further than its award wining predecessor (MP-58). With its Ti weight more central to the clubhead the MP-59 creates even greater stability from off centre strikes. This increased stability allows for less offset to be used, improving the irons look at address.

A thinner top line and weightier sole is finished with a new sole grind developed with Mizuno’s Tour players through 2011.

The MP-59 is available in any custom combination from 3-PW, with MP Fli-Hi (2,3,4) available as long iron replacements.

“The Forged Ti Muscle concept has so much going for it. Forgiveness from off centre strike - but in a head that doesn’t restrict you to just straight shots. With the centre of gravity so close to the face, better players can still work the ball left and right. In the MP-59 we’ve created a more familiar, softer Mizuno feel by the way we’ve shaped and bonded the Titanium insert to the steel casing. It’s a solid looking iron now with a less ‘clicky’ feel and beautiful looks.”

JPX-800HD
HIGH DISTANCE

The JPX800HD harnesses the power of the original JPX800 iron, in a high launching, super forgiving clubhead.

The ball speeds of the JPX800 line are taken to a new level in this fuel injected edition - with a high energy pocket cavity from 4 to 7 iron. The pocket cavity allows a thinner sole portion, which in turn encourages the clubface to flex. From 8-PW the JPX800HD features a more solid design with an emphasis on control.

A wide sole featuring Mizuno’s new C-Grind, increased off set and thicker top line combine to create an easy, high ball flight. Following Mizuno’s ‘Balanced Performance’ concept, the JPX800HD tapers down in size from the longer irons - to a workable mid-size pitching wedge.

A solid feel is factored into the design, with sound patterns engineered through Mizuno’s Harmonic Impact Technology project.

The JPX800HD is fuelled with Fujikura’s new Orochi ‘Dragon’ graphite shaft as standard.

“As well as being incredibly long, the 800HD has a really solid feel. And although the longer irons have the size you would expect from a super game improvement iron, we tapered the size right down throughout the set. Even the 6 iron has a nice balance about it and the PW looks really good.”

- Masao Nagai, Mizuno R&D

MP R-12 WEDGE
LOFT SPECIFIC DESIGN

The rounded version of the MP wedge is Mizuno’s first flow design model – with a playing profile specifically suited to each loft.

In its lower lofts, the MP R-12 is shaped to progress seamlessly from a standard pitching wedge. From 54 degrees upward, the R-Series takes on more specialist wedge look, with its C-Grind sole allowing great short range versatility.

With its generous, rounded face profile, The MP R-12 is a throwback to Mizuno’s traditional wedge models. Without a straight leading edge, the R-Series is easy to open up for a variety of shot types. A new taper to the hosel area, reveals a larger portion of the clubface at address.

The R-Series also combines Mizuno’s Quad Cut Groove design and Grain Flow Forged construction for an unmatched combination of butter soft feel and spin control.

A wider, shallower version of Mizuno's QUAD CUT groove is used on 56-64 degree models to assist traction on the shorter, partial strikes - where the ball cannot fully compress. Over 50-54 degrees, QUAD CUT uses a narrower, deeper configuration, suitable for fuller, squarer strikes.

The MP R-12’s thick top edge enhances both trajectory control and the spin created by Mizuno Quad Cut groove system.

The new MP R-12 can be custom fitted to match the specification of any Mizuno iron set.

“The demands of a 50 degree and 60 degree wedge are so different – which is reflected in the flow design on the MP R-12. The 50 degree looks like it could be your next iron in your bag after the pitching wedge – ideal for fuller approach shots. But from the 54 degree up, the sole shape becomes much more versatile.”

- A Kikidas, Mizuno Tour Operations Manager

* Loft specific sole design: C-Grind sole for versatility from 54 degrees upwards.
* QUAD CUT Groove: Maximises 4 dimensions within new R&A / USGA guidelines
* Loft specific grooves: Wider shallow grooves on high lofts, deep narrow grooves on lower lofts.
* CNC Milled face: Added traction for shorter pitch shots
* Grain Flow Forged: Heads forged from a single 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel billet for pure feel
* White Satin or Black Nickel: Highly durability or softer wearing black finish.

JPX SERIES WEDGE
CAVITY FLOW WEDGE

A solid, thicker looking wedge, design to flow from a full cavity iron set.

The JPX wedges feature the same high spin technology found in the MP line of wedges – with the loft specific Quad Cut Groove system and CNC Milling lines to the face.

Manufactured from a soft 8620 steel, and finished in two tone Double Nickel Chrome, the JPX offers both a powerful, satisfying feel and long term durability.

A taller confidence inspiring face, and wider triple cut sole create an ideal flow from the JPX-800 iron line.

“We wanted to package our new Quad Cut Groove into a wedge that wouldn’t be intimidating to someone playing a full cavity iron - who still wants the spin control of a specialist wedge. The JPX Series wedges now incoporate our tour proven Quad Cut Groove as well as the CNC Milled face for traction on shorter shots.”

- Masao Nagai, Mizuno R&D

* QUAD CUT Groove: Maximises 4 dimensions within new R&A / USGA guidelines
* Loft specific grooves: Wider shallow grooves on high lofts, deep narrow grooves on lower lofts.
* CNC Milled face: Added traction for shorter pitch shots
* Double Nickel Chrome finish: High durability two tone finish.

JPX FLI-HI
DIRECT LONG IRON REPLACEMENT

The new JPX Fli-Hi replaces the difficult to hit traditional long iron with an easy to launch, hugely forgiving wood type hybrid.

The JPX Fli-Hi harnesses the same distance generating technologies used in the JPX irons. A multi-thickness HOT METAL clubface and MAX COR Pocket Cavity are used to increase ball speeds across the entire clubface. Combined with a low deep Centre of Gravity (COG), the JPX Fl-Hi allows players of all levels to execute long, soft landing shots with ease and accuracy.

The JPX Fli-Hi can be integrated seamlessly into any one of Mizuno’s JPX iron sets as part of a custom order.

“Although it’s very easy to hit, the JPX Hybrid will be useful for all types of players. The stronger ball strikers might just replace their 3 or 4 iron. Players with less clubhead speed might start their traditional irons at #7. With the same custom shaft options as our iron line, the JPX Hybrid is an incredibly versatile tool.”
- Bill Price, Mizuno Custom Fitting Manager

* HOT METAL: Multi thickness face for high ball speeds
* Drop down crown: For low deep COG and lie angle adjustment
* Speed Bevel sole: For maximum head speed and minimal turf drag
* Low COG: For high launching, soft landing approaches.
