Pro V1 and Pro V1x Golf Balls ()
Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Jamie Donaldson put his trust in the unrivalled precision and quality of the #1 ball in golf to earn his second career European Tour title at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Following his maiden win at the Irish Open last year, Donaldson claimed a one shot victory in Abu Dhabi after closing with a final round 68 en route to a 14-under par, 274 winning total. Joining Donaldson in the winners’ circle this weekend were fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Brian Gay and David McKenzie who both trusted the new 2013 Pro V1x prototype golf ball to lead them to victories on the PGA and Australasian Tours.
Donaldson topped a list of eight players who relied on Titleist to finish amongst the top 10 and ties at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, including Titleist Brand Ambassador and 2012 European Tour Rookie of the Year Ricardo Santos. Santos utilised a full bag of Titleist equipment including the new 2013 Pro V1x prototype golf ball to finish alone in fourth. Other top finishers included Titleist golf ball loyalists David Howell (Pro V1x) and Joost Luiten (2013 Pro V1 prototype) who tied for sixth place, and Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jason Dufner (Pro V1), George Coetzee (2013 Pro V1x prototype), Anders Hansen (Pro V1x) and Jbe Kruger (Pro V1x) who each put their trust in Titleist to finish in a tie for eighth place. As well as being the choice of the champion, Titleist golf balls were the overwhelming choice of the field at the event with 75 players relying upon a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 19.
On the PGA Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist Brian Gay emerged victorious from an all-Titleist Pro V1x playoff at the Humana Challenge to become the first player to win on the PGA Tour with the new 2013 Pro V1x prototype golf ball. Gay birdied the second playoff hole to beat fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Charles Howell III (Pro V1x) and David Lingmerth (Pro V1x) to the title. All three players fired four consecutive rounds in the 60s to finish on a 25-under par, 263 total, one shot clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador Scott Stallings (2013 Pro V1x prototype) and Pro V1x loyalist James Hahn who completed a clean sweep of the top-five positions for Titleist golf ball loyalists. Titleist dominated the counts for golf balls at the event with 106 of the 156 players in the field relying upon the #1 ball in golf, more than six times the nearest competitor with 16. Titleist also topped the counts for iron sets, wedges and putters at the Humana Challenge.
Elsewhere on the Australasian tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist David McKenzie also trusted the new 2013 Pro V1x prototype to win his first career Australasian PGA Tour title at the Victorian PGA Championship. McKenzie posted a 13-under par, 275 victory total to claim a two shot win and become the seventh player across worldwide professional tours to win with the new 2013 Pro V1 and Pro V1x prototypes since seeding began, joining the likes of Luke Donald (2013 Pro V1x prototype) and Adam Scott (2013 Pro V1 prototype) in the winners’ circle.
A second European Tour title for Titleist golf ball loyalist Jamie Donaldson, coupled with further wins for Brian Gay and David McKenzie across worldwide professional tours trusting the new 2013 Pro V1x prototype, continues to prove that the world’s best players put their trust in the performance excellence of Titleist to deliver success.
