Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Jones (Pro V1x) became the final player to earn an invitation into this year’s Masters Tournament after securing his maiden PGA Tour title at the Shell Houston Open in the most dramatic fashion. Jones holed a spectacular 42-yard pitch shot for birdie to seal a dramatic victory on the first hole of a sudden death playoff after closing with a final round 66, to post a 15-under par total and earn his place in the two-man playoff. Joining the Australian in the winners’ circle this weekend was Pro V1x loyalist Marco Crespi, who claimed his first career European Tour title at the NH Collection Open in Spain. This was the 25th career start for the Italian, who closed with a 3-under par 69, en route to a 278 victory total, to finish two shots clear of his nearest competitors.
Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Jones trusted Titleist equipment from tee-to-green to claim his dramatic PGA Tour victory, including a Pro V1x golf ball, 913D2 driver, 910F fairway metal, MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, as well as a Scotty Cameron putter. Fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Tringale (Pro V1x) finished alone in fourth place, three strokes outside of the playoff whilst Pro V1x golf ball loyalists Shawn Stefani and Rickie Fowler finished fifth and sixth respectively. As well as being the choice of the champion at the Golf Club of Houston, Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field, with 91 of the 144-player field placing their trust in the #1 ball in golf, more than four times the nearest competitor with 19. Jones’ win marks the 14th for Titleist golf ball loyalists through the first 21 events on the 2013-14 PGA Tour season, nearly five times the nearest competitor with three. Titleist players have also accumulated more victories in the driver, irons, wedge and putter categories than any other competitor on the PGA Tour this season.
On the European Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Marco Crespi’s win at La Reserva de Sotogrande Cub de Golf was the seventh for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the European Tour this season, more than three times the nearest competitor with two. As well as being the choice of the champion in Spain, Titleist golf balls were also played by more players than any other brand, with 103 of the 144-player field putting their trust in the feel and consistency of a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success, more than five times the nearest competitor with 19. These victories take Titleist’s 2014 win count to 38 across worldwide professional tours, compared to seven for the nearest competitor.
