52 weeks after full line Titleist player Morten Ørum Madsen won the season-opening South African Open on the 2014 Race to Dubai, Pro V1x loyalist Henrik Stenson holed the final putt of the season. With it, Stenson successfully completed his defence of the DP World Tour Championship and secured his ninth career victory on the European Tour. Stenson was joined in the winners’ circle this weekend by three other players who secured victories on the LPGA Tour, Asian Tour and Australia Tour respectively, as Titleist’s worldwide golf ball win count was bolstered to 169, compared to 44 for the nearest competitor.
Having completed an historic double in Dubai last year, when he captured both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai, Stenson once again emerged victorious at Jumeirah Golf Estates after carding a final round 70 to post a 16-under par winning total. The Swede trusted the feel, control and consistency of his golf ball to post birdies at each of his closing two holes to finish ahead of three players, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Victor Dubuisson, who finished tied for second. Titleist golf balls were also the choice of the majority of the 60-player field, with 29 players compared to 10 for the nearest competitor.
Stenson’s victory in the European Tour season finale was the 25th of the season for Titleist golf ball loyalists, including a clean-sweep of the four events that make up the Final Series; Pro V1x loyalist Marcel Siem won the BMW Masters, Bubba Watson trusted the new Titleist Pro V1x prototype golf ball to win the WGC-HSBC Champions, and Titleist Brand Ambassador Brooks Koepka won his maiden European Tour event at the Turkish Airlines Open last week. In addition to being the most victorious golf ball on the European Tour this season, 3,355 players have put their trust in the #1 ball in golf, compared to 707 for the nearest competitor, and more than all other brands combined.
Elsewhere this weekend, Titleist Brand Ambassador Nick Cullen (Pro V1x) edged fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott (new Pro V1x prototype), as well as Titleist golf ball loyalists Josh Younger (Pro V1) and James Nitties (Pro V1x) to claim the BetEasy Australian Masters. On the Asian Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Mardan Mamat captured the Resorts World Manilla Masters by six shots for his fourth career title on the Asian Tour. On the LPGA Tour, the champion trusted a Pro V1 to win the CME Group Tour Championship in a four-hole play-off.
A successful defence by Stenson of his DP World Tour Championship marks the end of a winning season from start to finish for players putting their trust in Titleist golf balls which, coupled with further wins around the world, continues to prove that the world’s best players put their trust in the superior performance of Titleist to deliver success.
