Gordon Turnbull and George O'Grady (EuropeanTour)
The European Tour bade a fond farewell yesterday to Gordon Turnbull on his retirement as Head of Radio Sport with the BBC.
Turnbull joined the BBC in 1974 and, as Head of Radio Sport, has overseen BBC Radio’s golf coverage and reporting of The European Tour. George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, presented Turnbull with an engraved alms dish to mark is retirement at the end of 2011.
Among the guests gathered in London were BBC Radio golf commentators past and present including John Fenton and Renton Laidlaw, Tony Adamson and Iain Carter.
