This week The European Tour is in Madeira for the 20th staging of the Madeira Islands Open – Portugal. The event has been played at three different venues since 1993 and this year returns to Santo de Serra for the first time since 2008. ETW recently caught up with Chris Gane who last year secured a hat-trick of graduations from The Challenge Tour thanks largely to his tied runner-up finish in Madeira. It meant Gane ended the season in 19th place on The Challenge Tour rankings and he will be looking for a repeat performance in Madeira this week to kick-start his 2012 season.
