England’s Justin Rose was the convincing winner of the Genworth Performance Award for Quarter 4 - 2013.

The Genworth Performance Award recognises outstanding statistical performance across the range of Genworth statistics. The three previous quarterly winners of 2013 have been Charl Schwartzel, Mikko Ilonen and Henrik Stenson.

Reigning US Open Champion Rose returned to the European Tour to play in the final three tournaments of the Race to Dubai, achieving Top 10 finishes in them all and was a remarkable 49 under par for the 12 rounds played.

Analysis of the Genworth Statistics for these tournaments reveals that the accuracy of his long game appears to be the biggest contributing factor to this success.

Rose ranked third in Greens in Regulation with an outstanding success percentage of 81%, a figure helped by the fact that he hit so many of the fairways from the tee, ranked sixth in Driving Accuracy at 75.6%.

Unsurprisingly, Rose's scoring in these tournaments led to him finish second in Stroke Average and fourth in Prize Money per Tournament.

Rose wins the Genworth Performance Award for Quarter 4 ahead of his good friend Ian Poulter, who won the Quarter 4 award in 2012.

“My game is statistically quite sound and it is nice that translated onto the golf course through my performance,” said Rose who was presented with his prize – an engraved Ipad – by The Tour’s Chief Operating Officer, Keith Waters.

“I always track my stats and use that information as the benchmark to improve. I often look at improving my game by each department and analysing your stats is the best way to gauge those improvements.

“Over the course of the 2013 season my stats were very good and it’s nice to be rewarded for that consistency so I’d like to thank Genworth for my very cool prize which will fit nicely in my golf room at home.”
