This week European Tour Weekly travels to China for the WGC HSBC Champions, the second of four events that make up the Final Series. Sheshan International Golf Club will once again be the venue, to welcome one of the strongest fields of the year, including the likes of Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson and last year’s champion Bubba Watson. ETW will be on the range with the latest from the players on the eve of the tournament.
Making his WGC debut this week is Matthew Fitzpatrick who is enjoying a phenomenal rookie season on The European Tour. After claiming his card at Qualifying School a year ago Fitzpatrick has gone on to claim his maiden European Tour title at the British Masters, after gaining a sponsor’s invitation. He also finished as runner up at the Omega European Masters before coming within inches of a first 59 at the KLM Open and currently sits just outside the top 50 in the World Rankings. Fitzpatrick speaks to ETW about his meteoric rise up the golfing ladder.
Our review is from the Turkish Airlines Open and we will bring you the best of the action from The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Course in Antalya.
Whilst in Turkey European Tour Weekly met up with Shane Lowry who is enjoying his best European Tour season of his career, thanks mainly to his win at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational where he saw off the challenges from Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk and Justin Rose. Lowry has moved into the top 20 of the World Rankings and still has the chance to finish the season as Europe’s number one.
Together with all of the latest news and statistics from the Tour, this completes another edition of European Tour Weekly.
