American Steve Burak produced a stunning third round 66 to move five shots clear of the chasing pack at Qualifying School First Stage Section B at The Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa.
Burak carded seven birdies and two bogies to produce the lowest round of the day to sit at 12 under heading into the final round, with Scotland’s Paul Shields his closest rival at seven under in second position.
England’s Daniel Brown and Sweden’s Gabriel Axell share third place, a shot further back on six under par.
At the other Section B venue of Ebreichsdorf in Austria, round three was suspended overnight due to darkness after morning delays, with Scott Secord of Canada the clubhouse leader on eight under par with his third round 63.
He is joined at the top of the leaderboard by Switzerland’s Benjamin Rusch and Swedish amateur Oliver Gilberg at eight under, respectively, through nine holes.
