Missed only two cuts from his first 13 starts in 1998 and held onto card in 116th and last position at the Belgacom Open. However a case of tendonitis in 1999 meant that he missed the first six weeks of 1999 and was unable to retain his rights. Went back to the Qualifying School and, as in 1997, managed to collect one of the precious cards. Belgium proved a happy hunting ground again in 2000 as he finished tied third in the Belgacom Open to retain his card. Missed out on a card in the US PGA Tour Qualifying School on six occasions. Started at the age of 14 and caddied for two years at Indianwood, Michigan. Turned professional at 21 and registered a victory on the Hooters Tour in America. Playing in 2002 on a Medical Extension after Chronic Fatigue Syndrome curtailed his appearance to just six in 2001.
