Played on the Australasian and Asian Tours before trying his luck on the Challenge Tour for the first time in 1998. Won twice on the Challenge Tour in 1998, shooting a record 62 in the final round to capture the Interlaken Open then taking the Open de Strasbourg. Also lost a play-off for the Open dei Tessali. Main goal since arriving in Europe was to follow in the footsteps of Greg Chalmers and Stephen Leaney to get on Tour. Having achieved that in 1998, he consolidated in 1999, ending his rookie season in 69th place helped enormously by a share of sixth place in the Smurfit European Open. Successfully earned his US PGA Tour card for 2002 after progressing through the US PGA Tour Qualifying School.
