Biography

It took Colin Montgomerie's fantastic 1993-1997 performances to finally beat Peter's marathon record of four successive years (1971-1974) as Europe's No. 1 and winner of the Vardon Trophy. He ruefully reflects on how far the European Tour has progressed to say: "It's amazing that my official prize money for those four years was just over £66,000." After tournament wins and international appearances at every level of amateur and professional golf, and commentating on the European Tour for The Golf Channel (USA) during 1995-1997, he now commentates for CBS TV in America.
