Best result of 2009 was tied seventh at the DGM Barbados Open en route to finishing 67th in the Order of Merit. Came agonisingly close to recording his first European Senior Tour victory in 2007’s Gloria Classic, when he was beaten in a play-off. Built on his solid rookie season in 2005 by finishing 24th on the 2006 Order of Merit - ten places higher than he had managed the previous year. Best result in 2006 came at the FIRSTPLUS Wales Seniors Open when he was sixth, although it would have been higher had he not taken a ten on the 12th hole when in a share of the second round lead. Maintained his playing privileges on The European Tour from 1978 to 1992, occupying a spot in the top 100 on the Order of Merit every season with a career-high of 50th in 1982. Victory eluded him but he came close on several occasions, most notably in the Peugeot French Open in 1992, when he was second behind Spaniard Miguel Angel Martin, and in the 1985 Portuguese Open, where he tied for third place.
