Biography

Came closer than ever to an elusive maiden victory back in 2008, with outstanding performances at the SAS Masters and the Bank Austria GolfOpen presented by Telekom Austria, where he finished second and third respectively. Born, quite literally, on a golf course – the Edberg family hotel at Jönköping boasts two layouts – he dabbled with the game as a three year old toddler with his father, Stefan, and brother, Hans. Turned professional in 1997 and first entered the Qualifying School in 1998, but it was not until 2004 that he achieved success for the first time. Was unable to retain his card the following year but came through the Final Stage once again in 2006 before faring much better, particularly in a glorious mid-summer spell that saw him post top five finishes in the Smurfit Kappa European Open and The Barclays Scottish Open, before finishing joint 12th in his Open Championship debut. Earned his place on The European Tour for the sixth time thanks to a big finish to the 2011 Challenge Tour season, which saw him lose in a play-off at the Roma Golf Open, before an outright fifth place finish at the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, which meant he made it into the Rankings’ top 20. After failing to consolidate this in 2012, he lost his card. Undeterred, he was back in familiar surroundings two years later, after a couple of solid seasons on the Challenge Tour, to snare the 21st card on offer at Qualifying School Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort. During the winter back home, he enjoys playing indoor floorball – a game not dissimilar to hockey.
