Came closer than ever to that elusive maiden victory in 2008 with outstanding performances in finishing second at the SAS Masters in his native Sweden and third in the Bank Austria GolfOpen presented by Telekom Austria. Born, quite literally, on a golf course – the Edberg family hotel at Jönköping boasts two courses – he dabbled with the game as a three year old toddler with his father, Stefan, and brother, Hans, who is also his coach and has been the biggest influence on his career to date. Turned professional in 1997 and first entered the Qualifying School in 1998 but it was not until 2004 he achieved success for the first time. Unable to retain his card the following year but came through the Qualifying School – Final Stage once again in 2006 and fared much better, particularly in a glorious mid-summer spell where he achieved top fives in the Smurfit Kappa European Open and The Barclays Scottish Open before finishing joint 12th in his Open Championship debut. Earned his place on The European Tour for the sixth time having needed a big finish to the 2011 Challenge Tour season, and it duly arrived with a runner-up finish after a play-off at the Roma Golf Open before an outright fifth finish at the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final meant he snuck into the Rankings’ top 20. In the winter back home, enjoys playing indoor floorball – a game not dissimilar to hockey. Easily recognisable on the golf course for his headgear – adopting a headband rather than the traditional cap.
