For a South African, born in Zimbabwe of Scottish parents, competing on The European Tour, it might seem a little strange that he lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, but the lifestyle seems to suit. Came about when he qualified for a Nationwide Tour event in 1998, stayed with a local resident who he became good friends with and eventually bought the house next door. Started the 2009 campaign strongly by finishing runner-up in the Joburg Open, just as he did in 2007, but that proved the highlight of the year. Twice an Eisenhower Trophy player as an amateur. Won card at 1998 Qualifying School – Final Stage and then went on to the US PGA Tour for a year after finishing fifth at their 2000 Qualifying School. Failed to keep his card and played two seasons on the Nationwide Tour before returning to Europe in 2004. As the name suggests, comes from strong Scottish stock. Parents, Ron and Mary, are from Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. Still has relatives in Scotland.
