Introduced to the game by his late father, who worked in Seattle Parks and Recreation Department. Best year came in 1992 when he won three times, including the Masters Tournament at Augusta National. Voted US Tour Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992. Became the first player to win two Players' Championships at Sawgrass when eagled the 16th and birdied the 17th to beat Colin Montgomerie. Recorded back-to-back victories on the European Tour in 1995, capturing the Dubai Desert Classic and Johnnie Walker Classic at the start of that season.
