In 2003, he created the David Toms Foundation in 2003 which helps underprivileged, abused and abandoned children through funding programmes that are designed to enhance a child’s character, self-esteem and career possibilities. Foundation assisted those displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, raising more than $1 million. Made his Major breakthrough in 2001, capturing the US PGA Championship by a stroke from Phil Mickelson at Atlanta Athletic Club, after laying up short of water at the final hole and pitching and putting for a winning par. Made a big impression on his Masters Tournament debut in 1998, shooting a final round 64 with a back nine of 29 to tie for sixth. Won the WGC – Accenture Match Play title in 2005 when he defeated Chris DiMarco by a record 6 and 5 winning margin. Was a First Team All-American at Louisiana State University.
